Samuel E. Horn was raised in South Texas and met his wife, Beth, while they were students at Bob Jones University. They were married in 1986. He has pastored in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, and holds degrees from Bob Jones University in South Carolina and The Master's Seminary in California. Sam and Beth have two children, Robert and Ashton.
Dr. Horn loves reading, exploring old bookstores, and spending time with friends and family. He has enjoyed leading several study tours to Israel and to Greece and Turkey and spends time each year ministering to pastors on mission fields around the world. His academic interests are New Testament theology, the Pauline epistles, the Pentateuch, Minor Prophets, the Psalter, and Eschatology.
In order to further fulfill his passion to equip men for the ministry of the Word, Dr. Horn accepted the invitation to the presidency of Central Seminary and assumed his duties in July, 2011. His special concerns include evangelism, discipleship, mentoring, expository preaching, and equipping servant-leaders for the work of the ministry for the glory of God, the advancement of the Gospel, and the spiritual health of the Church.
In addition to being the president of the Seminary, Dr. Horn is also the Pastor of Mentoring and Ministry Development at Fourth Baptist Church in Plymouth, MN.
